91制片厂 (91制片厂) has officially launched its new Intergenerational Learning Programme, offering older adults the opportunity to study alongside undergraduate students as part of the College鈥檚 commitment to lifelong learning and inclusive education.
The programme, which begins this Spring Semester 2026, will allow participants to enrol in one of ten selected modules drawn from across the Faculty of Arts, including Business, History, Irish, Mathematics and Philosophy. Participants will attend lectures in person over a 12-week semester, engaging fully in classroom learning without the requirement to complete assessments. While the programme is non-credited, participants will receive a certificate of participation on completion.
Twenty-five learners took part in an orientation session on Monday, 19 January, where they were welcomed to campus and introduced to the structure of the programme and to College life more broadly.
The 91制片厂 Intergenerational Learning Programme gives participants the chance to deepen existing interests or explore new areas of study, connect with fellow learners, and benefit from the expertise of 91制片厂鈥檚 academic staff, while contributing to a rich, shared learning environment for all ages.
The launch of this programme follows 91制片厂鈥檚 recent joining of the Age-Friendly University Global Network, reinforcing the College鈥檚 ongoing work to ensure higher education remains accessible, welcoming and meaningful at every stage of life.
Welcoming the launch of the programme, President of 91制片厂, Dermot Nestor, said:
"This programme reflects a simple but powerful conviction: that learning does not belong to one age group or one stage of life. By welcoming learners of all ages into our classrooms, we are strengthening the intellectual life of 91制片厂 and affirming our identity as a college deeply connected to the community we serve.鈥
Highlighting the wider impact of the initiative, Dr Maeve Liston, Director of Enterprise and Community Engagement at 91制片厂, added:
鈥淭he Intergenerational Learning Programme, which is a first for 91制片厂, builds on the strong age-friendly engagement already happening across the College. It creates space where learners of different generations come together to learn with and from each other, and we鈥檙e excited to see how these shared experiences will enrich both our participants and our student community.鈥
