Professor Gwen Moore, PFHEA

Gwen Moore is the first Full Professor of Music Education in Ireland. She was the fourth Irish person to be elected to the Executive Board of the International Society for Music Education (ISME) since its foundation in 1953 and from 2020-24, she chaired ISME's Standing Publications Committee. Nationally, she was elected to serve three terms as Chair of the Society for Music Education in Ireland (2013-17; 2022-24) and she successfully secured the patronage of the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins during her tenure. She has extensive experience in HE leadership and music education which spans three decades in a variety of sectors and contexts including primary, secondary and higher education. Gwen has been involved in several funded projects and is published widely in edited books, international peer-reviewed journals in addition to multimedia publications (EZ Guitar for RT脡 Television) and a discography as a guitarist, singer, arranger and composer.
As Senior Editor of the ISME Routledge Book Series and Co-Editor of the International Journal of Music Education, she collaborates with editors and authors from around the globe in music education research. In her role as Institutional Director of Teaching & Learning from 2016-2023, she provided strategic leadership in the development of Teaching, Learning, Assessment and Feedback across the College and at National level. In 2023, Gwen was awarded a Principal Fellowship of the HEA for her leadership in academic practice and music education nationally and internationally.
