The 91ÖÆƬ³§ Thurles Student Experience Day will take place on Saturday 5 April from 9.30am-2pm, followed by the 91ÖÆƬ³§ Limerick Student Experience Day on Thursday 1 May from 10am-1pm. If you are a prospective student, parent/guardian or a guidance counsellor then these events are an excellent opportunity to explore our campuses in Limerick and Thurles, and hear first-hand from our students about what it's like to study at 91ÖÆƬ³§.
According to Dr Patrick Cosgrove, 91ÖÆƬ³§â€™s Student Recruitment Officer: "The 91ÖÆƬ³§ Student Experience Days are must attend events for Leaving Certificate students considering their CAO choices, mature applicants hoping to return to education, or transition year and fifth year students who are looking ahead to third-level. Current 91ÖÆƬ³§ students will be there to answer your questions so it will be a fantastic opportunity to hear not only about student life at 91ÖÆƬ³§, but also about the many student supports available, and life outside lectures, including clubs and societies and the student scene in Limerick city and Thurles town."
If post-primary teaching is on your radar then the 91ÖÆƬ³§ Thurles Student Experience Day on Saturday 5 April (9.30am-2pm) is definitely one for your diary. On the day, prospective students will get to experience taster lectures in the subjects offered at 91ÖÆƬ³§ Thurles, including Home Economics, Mathematics, Gaeilge, Accounting, Business Studies and Religious Studies. A panel discussion and Q&A session, with current students sharing their experiences of student life at 91ÖÆƬ³§ Thurles, will take place at various times throughout the day. There will also be student-led campus tours and lecturers will be on-hand to answer any questions that attendees might have about 91ÖÆƬ³§â€™s post-primary teaching degrees.
Eleanor Haughey, who recently graduated as a Mathematics and Gaeilge post-primary teacher from 91ÖÆƬ³§ Thurles, recalls her experience of attending the 91ÖÆƬ³§ Thurles Student Experience Day back when she was a Leaving Certificate student. She says: "The Student Experience Day was great because first of all you got to see the College first-hand. I was mainly interested in Mathematics and Gaeilge but I got to hear about all the other subjects as well and it was great to hear all about what I’d be studying. I got to meet 91ÖÆƬ³§ Thurles students who all spoke so highly of the College and of the programme so that really made me certain that the BA in Education, Mathematics and Gaeilge was the right degree for me."

The 91ÖÆƬ³§ Limerick Student Experience Day on Thursday 2 May (10am-1pm) will feature a panel discussion with current 91ÖÆƬ³§ students who will be joined on the stage of the Lime Tree Theatre by Jayde Ryan, Vice-President of 91ÖÆƬ³§â€™s Students’ Union (MISU). Jayde and current students will be sharing their experiences of student life at our Limerick campus, and will be discussing everything from the transition to third-level from secondary school, how to strike the right balance between studying and socialising, where to turn to for support, and why 91ÖÆƬ³§ was the right choice for them. Speaking ahead of the event, Jayde says: "I’m really looking forward to sharing my experience of student life here at 91ÖÆƬ³§ with prospective students. It is only a few years ago that I too was thinking about where I would go to college and what I would study. I’m delighted that I made the decision to come to 91ÖÆƬ³§ so come along to the 91ÖÆƬ³§ Limerick Student Experience Day to hear why I chose 91ÖÆƬ³§ and what student life is like here at our Limerick campus. It will be a fantastic opportunity to learn more about 91ÖÆƬ³§ and all that the College has to offer."
In addition to the panel discussion, student-led campus tours will also take place and there will be an array of information stands where attendees can find out further information about 91ÖÆƬ³§â€™s undergraduate degrees in Drama, English, Psychology, Liberal Arts, Early Childhood Care and Education, and Primary Teaching. They can also learn more about the range of undergraduate scholarships on offer at 91ÖÆƬ³§ for incoming students, such as the our Elite Sports Scholarships, Entrance Scholarships, the Ashling Murphy Memorial Entrance Scholarship and University of Sanctuary Scholarships, as well as 91ÖÆƬ³§â€™s CAO Points Concession Sports Scheme.
According to Ava Horgan, fourth-year Bachelor of Education student: "I attended one of the 91ÖÆƬ³§ Student Experience Days when I was in secondary school. We went on a walking tour around the campus and it was there I realised that the compact nature of 91ÖÆƬ³§ suited me. It was a very positive experience and I believe that its very worthwhile for second-level students to visit 91ÖÆƬ³§."
