Santa Claus comes to 91制片厂 for Student Parent Christmas Party

Santa and the children

Santa Claus came to town and made a special detour to 91制片厂 last week (5 December), to make an appearance at the 91制片厂 Student Parent Christmas Party where he danced, played games and read a Christmas tale or two.

The event was organised by Rob O鈥橦alloran (Path 3 Project Officer) and Jeannette Ferguson (Student Academic Administration) who embarked on recreating the magic of Christmas for student parents and their children.

鈥淲e were so delighted to have had Santa return to campus again this year. The 91制片厂 student parents are a very impressive and dedicated group of students who work extremely hard to attain their degree whilst also caring for their families, so it was nice to offer up something small at Christmas time. This group includes parents from the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education (Primary Teaching), postgraduate programmes and mature student cohorts,鈥 explained Rob.

Thanking those who helped to make the event happen, Jeannette said:

鈥淧icnic with Santa was a huge success due to the kindness and volunteering by Mary Immaculate Students鈥 Union (MISU). Dr Mary Moloney of the Department of Reflective Pedagogy and Early Childhood Studies; Professor Dermot Nestor, President of 91制片厂 and Dr Geraldine Brosnan, Director of Student Life all made guest appearances and spent some time talking with students and their families. Of course, we have to thank Santa Claus himself for showing up to read stories, play games and dance with the kids at his busiest time of year! We鈥檙e already looking forward to next year.鈥

鈥淭his year鈥檚 event was about capturing the essence of Christmas, spending quality time with other students in an informal setting and making all of our students and their families feel welcome,鈥 she added.
