Leading French Studies specialist Professor Michael Kelly (University of Southampton) visited 91制片厂 on Thursday 10 October at the invitation of the Irish Centre for Transnational Studies (ICTS) and of the Department of French Studies. Prof. Kelly gave two talks during his stay on campus, one on Catholic intellectuals and decolonisation in France and the other entitled 'Transnational Paradigms in Research: Understanding languages and humanities between the national and the global'.

Professor Michael Kelly (OBE, PhD, HonFCIL, Officier des Palmes Acad茅miques, Chevalier des arts et des lettres), is Emeritus Professor of French in Modern Languages and Linguistics at the University of Southampton. A renowned specialist in his field, Michael is a scholar of modern French culture and society, especially the history of ideas and intellectuals, and on public policy in the area of languages and language education in the UK and in Europe more broadly. He has been a Board Member of the European Language Council since 1997, has received honours from the French government for his work in promoting French studies and was awarded an OBE in 2014 for his services to higher education and European cooperation.
