About the STEM Education Conference

This two-day conference offers a timely and substantive opportunity to examine STEM education across the full continuum from policy formulation to classroom enactment, with particular attention to its capacity to enrich and enhance teaching and learning. Situated within the context of Ireland鈥檚 recently introduced STEM curriculum, the conference foregrounds the transformative potential of integrated, interdisciplinary approaches to learning that foster creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving among learners.

Day One of the conference will focus on research relating to integrated STEM learning, aimed primarily at teacher educators, with day two focusing more on practitioner workshops, suitable for in-service teachers across all class levels.

Conference theme: Integrated STEM for a Future-Ready Generation

The conference will bring together guest speakers, researchers, practitioners and policymakers to explore innovative models of integrated STEM education, with a focus on connecting disciplinary knowledge to real-world challenges. It will examine the impact of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies on pedagogy, assessment and learner engagement, alongside their ethical and social implications in schools.

The programme will showcase classroom practice, including design-based and inquiry-driven approaches that support inclusive participation, while also engaging with national and international research on curriculum design, teacher learning, student engagement and future-ready competencies, fostering dialogue and evidence-informed practice to support the continued development of high-quality STEM education in Ireland.

Call for Workshop Proposals for Day Two

The call for integrated STEM Education workshop proposals is now open.

As the conference theme focuses on integrated STEM education, proposals should meaningfully address at least two of the STEM subject areas.

We welcome practical examples of integrated STEM pedagogies, materials and classroom practices/experiences across all primary class levels. We would also very much welcome submissions from practising primary teachers, as well as STEM educators. Abstracts should be a maximum of 300 words in length.

Your submission should include:

  • Title of workshop
  • Clear linkage made to integrated STEM (at least two disciplinary areas)
  • Reference to class level(s) addressed.

Closing date for submissions is Monday 27 April 2026.
