To consider and make recommendations on the institutional and operational arrangements that would ensure the maximum level of complementary courses and usage of facilities and staff between the two institutions.
Letter from Mr. C.N. Lindsay, Dept of Education to Most Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Newman, Bishop of Limerick and Chair of An Bord Rialaithe.
The guiding principle of the group was the achievement of the maximum degree of academic integration consistent with respect for the autonomy enshrined in the respective legal instruments of each institution. It was important for the College to ensure that it maintain the independence of governance enjoyed in its association with the National University of Ireland which had accepted its staff as recognised teachers of the university.
